Wide fit kitten heels and low heels: brands that actually make them

Short version: wide kitten heels exist, but they come mostly from comfort brands, not fashion labels. On 25 October 2026 we opened the product pages of 24 low-heeled and kitten-heeled women's shoes. 18 of them listed a wide width in at least one colourway. If you want a classic pointed kitten heel, start with the Clarks Kataleyna range. If you need extra wide (2E/EE) in a low heel, look at David Tate, Ros Hommerson and, in the UK, DB Shoes. The designer kitten heels we checked (Vince Camuto, Birdies, Pelle Moda, Circus NY by Sam Edelman) came in one width only.

DB Shoes uses its own fitting codes: 2V means the shoe is made to fit roughly 2E to 4E, according to the retailer's width label. These are UK sizes.

Heel heights, from the product pages

A "kitten heel" has no official height. People usually mean a slim heel of about 1.5 to 2 inches. Comfort brands also make "low heels" (block or French heels) of 1 to 2 inches. Here is what each product page gave as the heel height on 25 October 2026:

The Good For The Sole Dawn (UK, 4E) is described only as having "sturdy mid block heels", and the Naturalizer Maddox page didn't give a readable heel height, so we've left them out of this table.

Width letters for women's heels

Women's widths use a different scale from men's. A women's D is wide, while a men's D is standard. Here is how the labels on these pages translate:

• B or M: standard (medium).
• C or D: wide. Both appear on these pages: LifeStride and Rockport print W (C), while Trotters, David Tate and Ros Hommerson print W (D). Clarks writes D - Wide. So "W" from one brand is not the same as "W" from another.
• 2E / EE: extra wide. David Tate and Ros Hommerson call it WW (EE). Naturalizer's Maddox page lists WW (E), and SAS's Isabel page lists WW (D), so check the letter in brackets, not just the "WW".
• 4E: XX-wide. In this list, only the UK pages go that far (Good For The Sole Dawn in 4E; DB Shoes 2V covers 2E to 4E).

Checked, but only one width listed

So you don't have to check them yourself: on 25 October 2026 these Zappos pages listed one width only for the colourway that opened:

• Clarks Kataleyna Ruby (B - Medium), even though its sister styles Gem, West and Eve list D - Wide
• Clarks Iridessa Sky (B - Medium), a 1 3/4 in block heel
• Vince Camuto Kylien Slingback Kitten Heel Pumps (M)
• Birdies The Goldfinch Kitten Heel (M)
• Pelle Moda Kiam (M)
• Circus NY by Sam Edelman Katia (M)

Some of these may be cut generously, but no page listed a wide width, so we don't list them as wide.

How to get a heel to fit a wide foot

• The lower the heel, the less your forefoot gets pushed forward into the toe. If your feet are wide at the ball, a 1 to 1.75 inch heel is usually easier to wear all day than a 2.75 inch one.
• Pick the toe shape as carefully as the width. A pointed toe (like the Kataleyna range) narrows quickly even in a D width. The square toes on the DB Hyperion and Sirius and the "walled toe box" on the Ros Hommerson Meredith leave more room in front.
• Adjustable straps help. Slingbacks with a buckle (David Tate Glenna) and Mary Janes (SAS Isabel, Good For The Sole Dawn) let you tighten the heel without squeezing the forefoot.
• Check the width for your colour and size. Retailers often list different widths for different colourways of the same shoe. Pick your colour first, then check that the wide option is still there.
• Shop late in the day, when feet are at their largest, and try heels with the hosiery or socks you'll wear.
• If you have pain, bunions or numbness, talk to a podiatrist. A wider shoe helps with fit. It isn't a treatment.
