Wide width dress shoes for women

Short version: wide dress shoes for women are easy to find once you stop looking at fashion labels and start looking at comfort brands. On 27 October 2026 we checked the product pages of every women's dress pump, flat and loafer in our database, plus 12 new ones. 33 styles listed a wide width: 27 on Zappos (US sizes) and 6 on Wide Fit Shoes (UK sizes). If you need extra wide (EE) in a dress shoe, start with Trotters, David Tate and Ros Hommerson in the US, or DB Shoes in the UK, which goes up to 6V (6E - 8E).

The tables below update from our database and show the exact width labels each page used on the day we checked.

DB Shoes uses its own fitting codes. According to the retailer's width labels, 2V fits roughly 2E to 4E and 6V roughly 6E to 8E. These are UK sizes.

Pick by heel height

Heel heights below are copied from each Zappos page on 27 October 2026. The Naturalizer Maxwell (described as a "flat") and the Trotters Liz III pages didn't give a heel height.

The Naturalizer Maddox pump page printed its heel height as "1 1/1 in", so we can't tell you the real figure. It lists M (B), W (C) and WW (E).

The extra wide shortlist (EE and up)

Most "wide" dress shoes stop at one step wider than standard. If that's still tight, these are the ones whose pages listed more on 27 October 2026:

• Trotters Estee and Trotters Liz III: M (B), N (AA), W (D), WW (EE). The Estee is the lowest wide dress shoe here (1/2 in heel).
• David Tate Freedom and David Tate Glenna: M (B), N (AA), W (D), WW (EE), both with a 1 in heel.
• Ros Hommerson Meredith: M (B), N (AA), W (D), WW (EE), 2 in heel. Its page says "The walled toe box provides plenty of toe room".
• DB Shoes (UK): the Magnolia and Partridge loafers and the Raya Bumper pumps come in 2V (2E - 4E) and 6V (6E - 8E). The Hyperion and Sirius court shoes come in 2V.
• Good For The Sole Dawn (UK): listed in 4E only.

Watch the double-W labels: Naturalizer's WW is (E) and SAS's WW is (D), which are narrower than Trotters' or David Tate's WW (EE).

Width letters on women's dress shoes

• B or M: standard (medium).
• C or D: wide. LifeStride, Naturalizer, Rockport and SAS print W (C). Trotters, David Tate and Ros Hommerson print W (D). Clarks writes "D - Wide" on the Kataleyna and Marilyn pages but "C - Wide" on the Juliet Palm and Kidiki Cove pages.
• 2E / EE: extra wide.
• 4E and up: XX-wide. Only the UK pages here go that far.

So a "W" from one brand can be a full width narrower than a "W" from another. More detail is in our guide to width letters: 2E, 4E and UK EE.

Getting a dress shoe to fit a wide foot

• Lower heels are easier on the ball of the foot. A higher heel pushes your forefoot forward into the toe, where dress shoes are narrowest. If your feet are wide at the ball, try the 1/2 to 1 3/4 in options first.
• Toe shape matters as much as width. A pointed toe (such as the Clarks Kataleyna range) narrows quickly, even in a D. Rounder or squared toes, like the Ros Hommerson Meredith's "slightly squared-tapered toe", leave more room in front.
• Adjustable straps help. Slingbacks with buckles (David Tate Glenna, Rockport Mayla) and Mary Janes (SAS Isabel) let you secure the heel without squeezing the forefoot.
• Loafers are the easy route for office wear. The SAS Simplify and Dream loafers, Vionic Willa 2.0 and, in the UK, DB Shoes' Magnolia and Partridge loafers all list a wide width.
• Check your colour and size. Retailers often list different widths for different colourways of the same shoe. Pick your colour first, then make sure the wide option is still there.
• Shop late in the day, when feet are at their largest, and try dress shoes with the hosiery you'll wear them with.
• If you have pain, bunions or numbness, talk to a podiatrist. A wider shoe helps with fit. It isn't a treatment.
